Designs and Plans to make your own PABlaster: I have seen this everywhere
online... What is a PA-Blaster ???
The "PA" in PABlaster stands for
"Pressure Assist" or the ability to
control two atmospheres when sandblasting providing you with a no-clog system that can go
for hours-on-end (depending of course on the amount of media your container can hold.) a 60-gallon storage container for example can go for hours and be used by
one person providing you limitless time in removing rust from your object instead of
clearing the blockage like most industry units today have a problem with.
By all rights it is just plain
"COMMON SENSE":
Feed the correct amount of air into the high-pressure side of the average sandblasting Gun
(90-120 psi) and at the same time regulate how much media is thrown into the stream.
- As your pressure-levels increase add the ability to adjust this
media stream and STOP or START as needed making is SAFE and
you have just made a PABlaster.
What started this "PABlaster" idea? :
At first it was designed specifically for the the home-shop DIY person like myself who has
limited funds to start with and plenty of vintage car parts that needed extreme rust
removal. IE: My 1931 Chevy
How good does it work ? :
The PABlaster is unique as it works on HIGH or LOW pressure. This
means anywhere from 40 to 135-psi (depending on what the output of your compressor can
handle). You can clean rust off steel, remove paint from soft wood and even etch glass or
blur chrome in preparation of powder-coating all with the same unit.
What skills are needed to build a
PABlaster? :
If you can glue PVC you can make a PABlaster. If you can weld even better!. - Mig-welding is fairly easy to learn and I'm sure you know of at least
one person who knows how to do it and has the system in his/her garage already. - Thus if you can weld even a little then you can make a large steel
version PABlaster.
How BIG or SMALL can I make my
PABlaster? :
Size matters! - If your doing something small like glass-etching coffee cups it could be
as small as 10-gallons. If your doing the entire sheetmetal body of a Hotrod then I would
go with a 20, 60 or even an 80-gallon unit. - Anything bigger would depend on your needs. - the largest one made to date is a 60-gallons and the smallest was just
5-gallons. - Both still worked flawless no matter the size.
- It's the ability to control the system that makes it work so well.
Powder Coating you say? -
If you read this website close and made it to this line you can join my powder-coating
group HERE for
FREE - Sandblasting and powder-coating go hand in hand
for the most part as one is a preperation for the other to have excellent results because
of the bare steel it can now stick to when using a PABlaster.
FREE STUFF ! - The
plans include TWO FREE sets of blasting cabinet designs that you can make from plywood
with all dimensions drawn-out for you to see in the photos area. (The photos area is now almost FULL at 93%)
Is there others making PABlaster's?:
YES ! - Long ago in the beginning stages I
had started a moderated YahooGroup you can join where the information on sandblasting and
powder-coating does not end. - Be it big or small, plastic or metal, either me or one if
my members has made a PABlaster out of it. - This group is FREE ONLY to buyers of the plans and
is well moderated to prevent spam or bashing of other members and follows
a strict 4-strike RULE as noted in the files area. - It's not some
"all famous hidden group" - But it is hidden from the Yahoo Driectory. This is
just a way to keep a collective of great people without all the SPAM.
UPDATE: As of 11-5-06 we are now a group of 1,000
incredible DIY people with three moderators watching each and every post on a daily
basis.
